SA's Final Flow Comp for 2009

Saturday, December 19th was the date set for the Annual Wave House Summer Jam, the most prestigious event of the year. All the riders had been training hard and coming off a killer season from the Wave House Flow League these guys wanted to win at all costs and become a 2009 SA Champion.

Matt Lammers, defending 2008 SA champ was on a rampage, riding like an animal. He’s been training super hard and after just coming back from the opening of Wahooo! Waterpark in Bahrain with the rest of the SA IFC team, was in a groove. The Pro Strapped final saw Matt go against Rusty teamrider Paolo Faen it comes down to the little details and who’s got more Big Match Temperament at the time. Matt ultimately prevailed, rounding off an awesome year, reclaiming his SA title for 2009 and taking the WHFL (Wave House Flow League) Tour title too.

Wesley Fischer was another rider looking to end off a crazy year with one more victory. He had to go up against the likes of WHFL Tour Champion Clayton Barker, strapless phenom Andrew Carrie, the dark horse Michael Hunt and the all rounder Paolo Falconer. This final was intense and everyone was on the ball, trading off finger flips, aerial 360’s, huge airs and a few backhand moves but a few riders made the mistake of taking the World Champ a little too lightly and fell on some of the easier moves, allowing Wes to capitalise on his strong fluidity and consistency. Wes was super clean all day boosting some huge backhand airs, a move not many riders can do strapless. He ended up a unanimous winner, with riders and judges agreeing that he deserved the win. Ext year is gonna be interesting at the top tier of strapless riding, with a solid crew pushing each other.

The Ladies final saw current WHFL Tour Champion and SA Team rider, Marta Jekot go up against Sarah Bloch and Elaine Johnson. The final was very close with Sarah throwing down massive backside front flips, Marta trading off some big frontside 3’s and airs, and linking her runs together cleanly. It was close but in the end it was Sarah Bloch who came out on top and claimed the SA title for 2009.

All the riders thoroughly enjoyed themselves and will be going into 2010 and the Wave House Flow League determined to win their respective divisions and hopefully next year’s SA title.

Big thanks to sponsors Rusty Clothing and Wave House.
